FAQ
Questions about the steps and permits
How long does solar installation take?
A typical home installs in 1–2 days. From booking to use, the system is ready within 14 days after 50% is paid. The utility's inspection and meter change follow each utility district's schedule.
How is the utility permit obtained?
Solar D applies in the meter owner's name to MEA (Bangkok, Nonthaburi, Samut Prakan) or PEA (other provinces), with engineer-certified drawings and documents for utility-approved equipment. You prepare only 4 things: your latest electricity bill (showing the meter owner's name and account number) · a copy of the meter owner's ID card · a copy of the house registration · a photo of the house front and its location (map pin)
Do I need a building permit?
A typical home with panels on the existing roof, where panels and frame weigh no more than 20 kg per square metre, does not need a building modification permit. An engineer checks the structure during the survey; above that limit, Solar D files with the local authority for you.
Do I have to deal with the utility myself?
No. Solar D prepares the documents, files them, answers correction requests and books the utility inspection. You follow the status in My Solar D.
Can I sell power back right after installation?
After the utility approves and changes the meter: 2.2 baht per unit, up to 5 kW per meter, under the utilities' residential solar programme.
